At SILVER DUNES #45 first off we were told it was beachfront and it is not!!!!!I'm sitting here looking at a pool and far away I can see the ocean and it is walking distance, but was told can walk right out onto BEACH LIES LIES LIES and not to mention him when we was washing towels when we went to the beach we came back and the washer had smoked up the whole room so we cannot wash our clothes I'm in the kids bathroom there was a pubic hair on top of the counter there is also a broken cabinet this has been the most awful vacation of My life and this is been my second in my life!!!!! I would not go with this company!!!!that we do not even have Internet access because it was not written on our package so we can't even get on the Internet either his stains all over the stairs, it's not the best condo that I've ever stayed at!

I've stayed at hotels that were better and had a jacuzzi! and also on the back patio by the living room there is a broken screen that goes to the patio its stayed off track and also the chairs are made of plastic water pipes so that when I lean forward or go to get in it because I weigh 109lbs I pretty much ran my Chin into the table..Not to mention outdated TV's which was mentioned flat screens smoke alarms do not work we found this out while smoke had filled the room my daughter was in the shower and knew nothing of the smoke which came from the broken washer

Dale E Peterson Vacations - Silver Dunes Of Destin Review from Olive Branch, Mississippi

Silver Dunes has some very nice units, especially in the "sawtooth" extensions. To be able to walk from your living room onto a central turf, then step down to the sugar white sand surely beats elevators, stairs, etc.

It is an over exaggeration to suggest that the tower is so far from the beachfront. If you are ready for a scooter then book Miaimi maybe, or else enjoy the small stroll. Proper beach etiquette dictates that you smile and nod as you pass the other guests, and take in all the property has to offer. That little sliver of a sandbar is actually smaller than in the past.

Hugo or Opal, I forget which one took a big *** of property right out to sea. The end units were washed away. They rebuilt the 3 story units in their place. As a result of the hurricane the whole complex is now much closer to the gulf than ever before.

The beachfront is private property and their beachfront service is the best. The staff lifeguard keeps your umbrella and chair area clean, orderly, safe, and secure. He also keep the traffic away for a more private setting. The sand is raked free of debis every morning long before most residents awaken to take a refreshing stroll.

Try walking to the jetti and back then there would be no complaint of the few square yards of manicured turf to traverserse. It feels wonderful under bare feet. It's best to review the photos on the website before choosing a unit. The ladies in the rental office are helpful in helping their guests find the most suitable units.

Silver Dunes is a gem and it has been for years as Destin grew around it. My friend, Dr. H. Durell Johnson owned a unit in the D building.

As a pediatrician, he was instrumental in adding the kiddy pool for the young ones. I spent countless weeks of my youth at Silver Dunes during the 80s. We watched the towers built around the property. Durell had his unit professionally designed then removed it from the rental list.

His nurses and staff got a big perk by being lent his unit. The housekeepers were very professional. They would come every morning to clean and exchange the linens and towels. I would take advantage of the time of your visit to tour some of the units and you will discover that your experience was outside the norm.

I would address your issues with the staff in a detailed but friendly and professional manner. I am certain that you will get an empathetic and corrective action. It's the South, so a little sugar coating with attitude and language can go a long way, however, Silver Dunes has its devoted crowd of Snow Birds that keep the place full year round. They tolerate Yankees well.

We had quite a few local friends there since we were frequent visitors. We would arrive and call all our friends and let them know the party was started. A local retired Air Force Col. and his wife were my favorites.

Mrs. Singleton had grown up on the East Coast and was in Dance School with Shirley McClain during her youth. She once asked me if I knew what the best thing to order for dinner in Destin. She replied with a laugh, "Reservations!" She and her husband would invite us to the officers club at Ft.

Walton Beach. Destin is a small town without the tourists. You will find the local residents very warm and hospitable. Destin is a very family friendly.

It offers great food, recreational activities, a safe environment, that wonderful Southern Hospitility, and the sugar white sand of the Florida Panhandle. I would be happy to stay in any unit at Silver Dunes just to be in the Epicenter of it all.

I so sorry that you have had a bad experience, but I hope everything is made right for you. Life is short so I hope you will be able to look back years from now and recall some fond memories made at Silver Dunes.

Reason of review: Good customer service.
